This work was conducted by a team of researchers from CSUN's Institute for Community Health and Wellbeing in conjunction with the CSUN College of Education, the CSUN Department of Social Work, and Grandparents as Parents (GAP). GAP serves caregivers who are parenting their grandchildren or other minor children. GAP hosts support groups where caregivers can share their experiences engaged participants in a photovoice research project, and also connects caregivers to resources to help them navigate their family situation. The individuals who engage in this network are parenting their grandchildren, nieces and nephews, or other minor children. In order to better understand the unique set of needs, strengths, and challenges of this community, a research team engaged participants in photovoice research. Presented on this website are the images and narratives created by the caregivers, biographies, a description of the research methods, and contact information for the research team.
